Your Mets-cheering, latte-sipping, Catan-loving wedding photographer

I’m Emilee—

Helloooo, my friend!

If virtual bear hugs were a thing, you’d already be wrapped up in one!

I’m. So. Happy. You’re. Here!

I’ve been at photography since my senior year in high school, and after giving corporate life a shot, decided to transition back to my creative, “carpe diem” roots! I’m a stay-at-home Mama to three little boys, married to my red-headed honey, Jon, and live a simple, intentional lifestyle in our fixer upper Upstate NY home!

Here’s my world in three quick snapshots—

My love

My red-headed honey, Jon (alias JonJon, Jonboy, Jonathan, or sweet potato, depending on the day). We’ve been married for just over 6 years, and he is truly the sweetest, gentlest, most loving soul who perfectly balances out my not-so-occasional snark and spice. We bonded in 2017 over ping pong and board games, and to this day, spend most of our time duking it out over a game of Catan or renovating our 900 sq. ft. fixer upper home!

My kiddos

Russell, my oldest and our tender-hearted introvert; Brady, a classic second child and all-around menace; and Taylor, our precious baby boy on the way. Short story long, I’m surrounded by all boys (Jon is actually one of seven brothers, and Taylor now makes for the 7th GRANDSON on his side, so we’re 14/14 there!) and yet I wouldn’t change a thing. I love our chaotic, beautiful, endlessly in-motion life

My happy place

Whether we’re cheering on Jon at a church softball game, going on neighborhood walks, or taking the occasional #SurvivalRun to Starbucks, our days are a hodge podge of pattering feet, dirty diapers, sticky fingers, and clothes that’ve seen better days. My life pre-marriage and pre-family was full of so many wonderful things— traveling, skydiving, cliffjumping, you name it— but now having tasted and savored the beauty of slow, intentional living with my fam, there is no sweeter contentment that I’ve ever known!

And yes— in case you’re wondering, I basically live in overalls.

We Live a Simple Life

Here’s a peek inside…

  • Mornings filled with playground runs, play dates, and allllllll the snacks.

  • Afternoons filled with naps and cookie baking (because sugar therapy…)

  • Evenings filled with Mets baseball and take-out pizza (from a place I have on speed dial, obviously)

Our house is chronically messy, our car perpetually running behind schedule, and I’m that Mom whose shoulder doubles as a yogurt napkin, but in spite of it all, I’ve gained a deep appreciation for the saying, “The days are long, but the years are short." It’s true— this is a season of fatigue and frustration, exhaustion and exasperation, and yet still— deep, deep wonder.

PEEP OUR LOVE STORY

How I found my passion •

How I found my passion •

Growing up, I never would have guessed that I’d be a nationally acclaimed wedding photographer.

But whew, God has a way of weaving unexpected plans for His Glory…

Here’s how it went down…

Growing up, I was always drawn to art.

I have always loved creative things, and even as a girl, loved scrapbooking, sketching, and could basically always be found doodling (and yeesh, how much side-eye that earned me from my college profs. #SorryNotSorry)

I purchased my first camera my senior year of high school.

I began doing photoshoots for friends and also interned as a photographer at a local newspaper. That’s when I fell in love with the art of storytelling— creating meaningful art and communicating powerful stories through a lens.

Photography became a side hustle in college.

I worked as a sports photographer where I grew to love the relationship-side of photography— literally every photo I took meant something to the student athletes, which made it such a rewarding experience!

I produced a photo exhibit called “Memoirs.”

It was a collection of photos and interviews I did of elderly folks in my community, shining visibility on their personal experiences. It showed me that photography and storytelling was literally what I was meant to do!

When I photographed my first wedding, I was hooked.

The combo of creating visual narratives that were meaningful, championing couples on a day as joyful as their wedding, and promoting God’s gift of marriage— it was unmatched. Like finally tuning the dial to the right frequency, I had found my passion.

That’s where we are today!

Celebrating love stories through artful imagery, befriending couples from all over the country, and cheering them on as they enter into the most life-changing union called marriage— all to the glory of God!

My Deeper Why Behind Wedding Photography

HOW MY FAITH AND MARRIAGE SHAPED ME

Bride and groom kissing on lush lawn with long veil blowing in wind in front of victorian wedding estate.

It was when I got married that I truly uncovered my soul-level purpose for celebrating marriage—

That is, to point to the gospel. It was through the lens of my faith and my marriage that I began to discover how we, broken and sinful people, can truly love our spouse in spite of their flaws (and them, us!)

My first year of marriage taught me that I had actually entered the hardest commitment of my life.

I had vowed to stay by someone’s side in spite of their struggles, shortcomings, and weaknesses, and want to know something? That’s ridiculously hard to do. In that first year, I experienced more growing pains, arguments, lost tempers, and short fuses than I had ever known— and more surprising still? It was coincidentally the most beautiful, life-changing, soul-filling year I had ever known.

Four small votive candles glowing in dark intimate setting.

My faith revealed to me how love is so much more than a feeling.

Love is not only action, but a picture of Christ’s love for His church. The gospel reframed my understanding of marriage by pointing me to the sacrificial love of Jesus Christ— dying to Himself, redeeming His people, and drawing them to Himself in spite of our unfaithfulness.

CliffNotes version:

  • When Jon responds to my five-minute rant with a one-syllable answer…

  • Or acts surprised by dinner plans we’ve had on the calendar for weeks...

  • Or leaves his clothes beside the hamper (again)…

Tempers rise, arguments escalate, and words turn into personal accusations.

Yet through the lens of the gospel, I can love him.

Persistently. Patiently. (And with a nudge toward the laundry basket.)

SO MUCH MORE THAN JUST WIELDING A CAMERA—

My approach to wedding photography goes far deeper than pretty details or passing moments.

Rather, it is the essence of telling honest love stories, crafting meaningful imagery, and creating visual narratives that will stand the test of time.

Photography is the art of storytelling.

Every detail of my brand, down to each floral element in my logo, was hand-picked to reflect my deeply held beliefs, values, and the pillars of my business— my faith, passion, and deep reverence toward marriage.
